The Base Metal has to be prepared by Buffing, Glazing and Polishing prior to being able to achieve good plating at lower thicknesses. The Ronuk Buffing Range encompasses the Conventional Buffing Compositions for different applications i.e. metals as well as plastics and ABS:

EMERY:

All meshes ranging from 60,90,120 to flour.

BRUSHING EMERY-BE:

For very rough mild steel components to be used on Belt or Fibre or Sisal.

Nickel Plating Chemicals

NICKEL PLATING CHEMICALS:

Ronuk has developed new Nickel Plating Processes which has high leveling ability even at reduced Nickel thickness to balance the rising material cost and labour with a view to meeting the demands of our valued customers for better finish. Nickel/Chrome Plating is still the most widely used decorative electroplated finish on metals. 

a) DWA DUPLEX NICKEL :

This Duplex system provides semi bright sulphur free leveled nickel deposits with excellent mechanical and corrosion resistant properties and especially suitable for the rigours of a Duplex nickel system. Duplex coating of Nickel offers considerably higher corrosion resistance and durability, when applied on mild steel at lower thickness.

b) ECONIK: Duplex Nickel Process DWA – II :

Econik Duplex Nickel Process DWA-II produces non-glaring silky, Sulphur Free, attractive Leveled Nickel deposit for rack/Barrel plated parts. The added advantage of this system is that after Duplex Nickel the Dragout of Bright Nickel can be reused in semi Bright Bath resulting in a high level of economy to the user as close looped system is created due to the Brightners & Additives of Both Systems being Totally Compatible. 

MARINA NICKEL PROCESS :

A matt deposit of High Speed, easy to manage composition with good chrome receptivity. Large volumes of work and required deposition can be obtained with these salts.

NICKEL 103 SIXO PROCESS:

Most suitable for barrel plating. Can be operated at minimum 6 volts and is a highly conductive salt. 

NICKEL 104 TEVO PROCESS:

General purpose barrel plating salts for usage at 10V to 12 Volts.

NICKEL 101 OLSHO PROCESS:

Satisfactory Dull Nickel Salts for deeply recessed articles can be used at Room Temperature. Highly economic And useful for repair work and existing articles.

NI 105 AKNIK BLACK NICKEL PROCESS:

For Black Nickel Black on Brass, Copper and Mild Steel. It 9ives a lustrous Jet Black finish. It can be lacquered for longer life of the electroplate. 

AKNIK LIQUID REGENERATOR:

Used with the Nickel Aknik Black Nickel process for the better finish. 

CHELUX BRIGHT NICKEL SALTS:

These are proprietory Bright Nickel Salts of a high level purity compounded from Basic Salts manufactured by us.

CHELUX NICKEL BRIGHTNER: C.3:

Extremely white Mirror bright and brilliant finish can be obtained from this salt. Very tolerant to variation in 
temperature and tolerant to impurities. Suitable for manual and automatic vat and barrel installations to get uniform finishes. It has a ‘Lamellar’ crystal structure when used with our various Nickel Brightner systems. It is specially good as an undercoat to Gold and Silver and is used in combination with additives, 222 or C2 Processes. 

CHELUX BRIGHTENING AGENT C2 (SOLID):

The extremely ductile white Mirror finishes from C2 Solid are also produced from C2 (liquid) which has been developed for ease of use by our valued customers.

CHELUX LEVEL BRIGHTNER C2 (L):

Solid Brightner used with Chelux Bright Nickel Process to achieve brilliant and leveled Mirror Bright finish .

JAYLUX NICKEL BRIGHTNER:

Ronuk Brightner used with Chelux Bright Nickel Salts to achieve brilliant and white Mirror Bright finishes on metal. Can be used in combination with any of the Ronuk Additives like QBA-222 or C2 (Liquid or Solid).

QUICKBRITE NICKEL PROCESS: A-333 BRIGHTNER:

For Bright Nickel Plating very Quick Brightness can be achieved for a Thick or Thin Nickel layer and has all the necessary properties like Ductility, High Gloss, Leveling& consists the of A-333 & A-222. These Components are useful for general purpose requirements. This Process has excellent Versatility and a wide range of applications.

NIKBRITE 595: BRIGHT NICKEL PROCESS:

Versatile in operation with good Mechanical Properties & excellent Chrome Receptivity coupled with economical in use, making this combination popular with Job platers. 

A-222 NICKEL ADDITIVES ARE COMPATIBLE WITH ALL RONUK BRIGHTNERS.

LEVELLER 444:

Specially formulated for spokes & Rim plating in combination with C3-Chelux Nickel. Brightner
It increases Brightness & Leveling.

NICKEL ADDITIVE LLC-24:

Specially formulated for spokes & Rim plating in combination with C3-Chelux Nickel. Brightner
It increases Brightness & Leveling.

NICKEL LEVELLER-JAY-5

A composite liquid leveler for use in combination with Ronuk Bright Nickel Processes to obtain higher degree of leveling. in “STILL” or barrel lines. 

RONUK TRENIK PLATING PROCESS:

It is a Triplex Nickel Plating Process & imparts a Sulphur enriched layer between semi-bright & Bright Nickel Plating and ensures an additional safeguard against vertical corrosion & helps reduce to an extent nickel thickness when the 3 layers are plated in the correct percentages.

NICKEL ADDITIVE NICKEL 43:

Purifier for All Bright Nickel systems. Improves tolerance to Metallic impurities & whitens the electroplated layer & reduces “Down Time” by permitting tolerable plating although the Bath is infused with impurities.

ASTA NICKEL PURIFIER:

Solid purifier to be packed in filter with Carbon. Can be used with all bright Nickel systems to improve tolerance to organic and In-organic impurities. This product is normally prescribed for Preventive Maintenance.

RONUK ANTI STRESS AGENT: NICKEL ANTI-PITTING AMA:

Excellent for reducing Pitts and rectify imbalanced Stress and Strain is used for all Nickel solutions.

NICKEL ANTIPIT SB:

Used with RONUK Semi Bright & trenik Nickel solutions for reducing pitts.

SULPHAMATE NICKEL SOLUTION:

An almost Zero stress solution for ‘Electroforming’ Processes. ANTI PIT AMA can be used to advantage in this solution. 

SULPHAMATE NICKEL SOLUTION:

Extra pure Nickelsulphate, Nickel Chloride and Nickel Carbonates are manufactured by Ronuk. Use of these chemicals eliminates costly down time, high pH treatments and Electrolytic dummying. 

C5:

Low temperature Nickel Additive useful for Watts Bath & High chloride Baths. To be used with C3 or 333 or 595 Brightner.

Alkaline Zinc Iron Electroplating Chemicals

ALKALINE NON CYANIDE ZINC-IRON PROCESS

FEZINK 206 is an alkaline zinc-iron electroplating process with good metal distribution properties, which adds to the traditional qualities of the FEZINK process the anti-corrosion properties and yellow and black finish requirements demanded by the automotive sector. In excess of 200 hours salt spray after thermal shock (1 hour at 120°C). 

MAKE-UP
  • Fill the tank one third full with water, preferably Dl water.
  • Add the required amount of sodium hydroxide bit-by-bit with vigorous mixing (the reaction is highly exothermic; ensure the tank lining can withstand the temperature reached).
  • Dissolve the zinc metal required.
  • Allow solution to cool to 30°C.
  • Add FEZINK Purifier 0.5 – 1.0 ml/l
  • Give Dummy to the solution for few hours.
  • Add FEZINK Brightner at the rate of 8 – 10 ml/l
  • Put the solution under continuous filtration.
  • Add FEZINK 206 Complex at the rate of 75 ml/l.
  • Add FEZINK 206 Iron Additive at the rate of 3.5 ml/l.
  • Put the solution under continuous filtration for at least 4 – 6 hours.

This concentration of zinc should be controlled by use of an appropriate ratio of soluble anode
(zinc) surface and insoluble anode (mild steel) surface. During period of no production, zinc in
contact with steel baskets dissolves and concentration in the bath increases, this dissolution
rate increases with concentration of sodium hydroxide. It is therefore essential to remove the
soluble anodes from the tank during stoppage period.

In large volume installation, this requirement may be avoided by the following method:
The working tank is equipped only with insoluble steel anodes, the necessary zinc dissolution to maintain electrolyte equilibrium is carried out in an auxiliary tank, connected to the working tank.

FEZINK 206 BRIGHTNER

This brings brightness to the deposit.  It need not be used if appearance requirements are not critical.

FEZINK 206 PURIFIER

This precipitates out metallic impurities which are inevitable in any treatment line. An excess is not harmful, but can turn the solution slightly cloudy.  In this case, an addition of up to 5 ml/l  bleach is required to produce a clear solution. Where the deposit at low cathode current densities is black, an addition of 2 – 4 ml/l FEZINK 206 Purifier will, in the majority of cases, cure this problem.

FEZINK 206 COMPLEX

This maintains iron in solution and prevents its precipitation.

FEZINK 206 IRON ADDITIVE

This additive contains iron. An addition of 0.35 ml/l increases the iron content of the bath by 10 ppm.

EQUIPMENT

All equipment must be thoroughly cleaned prior to use.

  • Tank: Mild Steel or suitably lined.
  • Anodes: It is recommended to use insoluble mild steel anodes of 3 -4 mm thickness to obtain a 1:1 anode / cathode ratio.  The metal concentration in solution is maintained through the dissolution of zinc balls, bars, ovals or plate anodes (99.99% pure)

contained in iron baskets.  Dissolution is encouraged if the steel surface area in contact with zinc is as large as possible (sand blast or shot blast steel).

  • Agitation: Mechanical agitation is recommended. Air agitation is not desirable.
  • Filtration: Continuous at the rate of 1-2 tank turn overs per hour.  Use Plate or cartridge filter of porosity 10µm optimal filtration is necessary to obtain full brightness; presence of suspended particles will lead to mat deposit and risk of blistering.
  • Extraction: Desirable
  • Heating and Cooling: Steel or titanium (24 – 40°C).
PROCESS SEQUENCE

The quality of deposit obtained depends upon the proposed pre-treatment sequence. Use on non-ionic surfactants is highly recommended throughout preparation sequence.
For steel, following sequence is recommended.
1. Immersion clean
2. Water rinse
3. Pickle
4. Water Rinse
5. Electro – clean
6. Water Rinse
7. Activation 
8. Water Rinse
9. Static Rinse prior to zinc plate
10. Zinc plate
11. Water rinse
12. TRIBLAK Passivation
13. Water rinse
14. Topcoat
15. Dry

HEALTH & SAFETY:

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Store in dry place and protect from dust.  Wear eye/face protection, gloves and protective clothing.  Avoid contact with eye and skin, in case of contact, wash with fresh water, and avoid breathing fumes, mist or sprays.

EFFLUENT TREATMENT

Mix vigorously and reduce the pH to 9.00 with dilute acid.  Filter out or clarify and decant off the precipice zinc. Adjust the pH of the filtrate according to local pollution control regulation before discharge.
