KEC has a global leadership position in the Power Transmission EPC space. This is the largest business vertical of the Company. With around 7 decades of experience, it has capabilities to design, manufacture, test, supply and erect transmission lines on turnkey basis up to 1,200 kV.

SAE Towers Holding LLC, United States

KEC acquired 100% stake in SAE Towers Holdings LLC (SAE Towers) in September 2010 at an enterprise value of USD 95 million. Currently, SAE Towers is a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of KEC.

SAE Towers’ acquisition strengthened KEC’s global leadership in Power Transmission space. This acquisition marked KEC’s entry into large markets of North and South America - United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and other neighboring countries. Lattice Tower Manufacturing

KEC is the largest globally operated tower manufacturing Company in the world. Its total manufacturing capacity is 313,200 MTs per annum spread across five locations, three in India and one each in Brazil and Mexico. In India, plants are located in Nagpur (Maharashtra), Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) and Jaipur (Rajasthan). Tower Testing

KEC is the only company in the world to have four tower testing stations, three in India and one in Brazil. Nagpur (Maharashtra) testing station is one of the few testing stations in the world capable of testing towers up to 1,200 kV. The tower testing station at Brazil is the largest in the America. Construction, Project Execution and Project Management

KEC has a successful track record of executing transmission line projects in inhospitable terrains such as seas, rivers, mountains, hills, gorges, deserts, water logged areas and forests etc. It has the ability to overcome challenges of difficult climatic conditions and has executed projects in +40° temperature in the Middle East region to -40° temperature in the CIS region. Power Distribution

The Company undertakes EPC projects of High Voltage Electrical Switching and Distribution Substations, Distribution network, installation of optical fiber networks, telecom towers and HV/EHV Cabling project works worldwide. The company is having strong in-house design & engineering capabilities for electrical as well as structural and civil works, global supply chain management team and highly experienced project management team to deliver these projects as per customer’s specific requirements.

Sub-stations

KEC offers complete turnkey solutions from concept to commissioning on turnkey basis for High Voltage Air Insulated Substations (AIS) and Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) from 33kV up to 1150kV level as per IEC or other International Standards. The company has executed several EPC substation projects encompassing design & engineering, procurement, supply, installation, testing & commissioning in multiple countries across the globe, including India as well. Presently, the Company is executing several substation projects in various countries including up to 1150 kV multiple substations at Kazakhstan, 115kV GIS twin substation projects at Saudi Arabia and 765 kV GIS Substation in India, to name some of them.

Distribution Network

The Company has electrified more than 11,000 villages and has provided electricity to more than 500,000 Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. The company is capable of undertaking overhead MV distribution lines projects encompassing pole mounted MV distribution substations, detailed engineering of the distribution line network, supply of various types of poles, pole mounted distribution transformers and related accessories, installation testing and commissioning.

Balance of Plant, Industrial Electrification and Cabling works

With rich experience of around 7 decades in the area of EPC contracting, the Company is geared to provide complete turnkey solutions for Balance of Plant, Industrial Electrification and Cabling projects. The company has already secured projects in these areas.

Introduction

KEC is one of the leading manufacturers of power cables and telecom cables in India.

It has three state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities located in Vadodara (Gujarat), Mysore (Karnataka) and Silvassa (Union Territory). The manufacturing facilities are accredited with ISO 9001 (All 3 facilities), ISO 14001 (Mysore and Silvassa) and OHSAS 18001 (Mysore) certifications.

KEC entered the cables business by acquiring RPG Cables in 2010. RPG Cables with a rich experience of over 5 decades, is one of the oldest and largest, fully integrated cable manufacturers in India. It pioneered the production of XLPE cables in India. It has a diverse clientele across industries including power, oil & gas, steel, engineering, electricity supply etc. The company is also amongst the leading Indian exporters of cables. It has a strong pan-India marketing and distribution network comprising dealers and sales offices. The company is well equipped with testing facilities as per various national and international specifications.

With its persistent focus on growth the company has set up a World Class facility at Vadodara (Gujarat, India) to manufacture HT and EHV cables up to 220 kV. The new plant is equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facilities sourced from international domain experts to maintain highest standards of quality and safety. The plant is capable of manufacturing corrugated Aluminum sheath and Milliken conductor with conductor cross-sections up to 2000 sq mm with a triple-extrusion insulation line. The plant has an installed capacity of 3,600 cable kilometers annually and has been designed for capacity expansion in the future.

The Vadodara facility has been awarded 'Platinum' rated Green Facility certification from the Indian Green Building Council for its sustainability initiatives in and around the facility. It is India's first Cable manufacturing plant to receive this honour.

RPG Cables has an extensive sales network across the country with sales offices and authorized dealers to serve its customers’ needs. It has a dedicated team for exports which has covered over 50 countries through supply of power and telecom cables. RPG Cables’ brand is approved with all major utilities, EPC companies and electrical consultants in India.

The Company has a capacity to manufacture over 36,000 kilometers (km) of power cables, 0.6 million core kilometers (ckm) of jelly filled telecom cables and 0.365 mn fibre kilometers (fkm) of optical fibre cables. (as of June 2013)

Railways

KEC is a complete turnkey solutions provider in the Railways Infrastructure EPC space. It is one of the early entrants in the Railway electrification space, having electrified more than 12,000 kms of Indian Railways.

In 2009, the Company started a new vertical to make further in-roads into the Railway business. The Company since then has developed capabilities and diversified in all functional segments of railway construction such as Civil & Track works, Electrification and Signaling. The Company also undertakes Railway Infrastructure jobs for private customers and has developed competencies and capabilities to undertake Railway projects including composite jobs in any challenging terrain or environment.

Civil & Track works

In this space, the Company constructs bridges, buildings (at stations & yards), platforms, workshop modernisation etc. It also carries out track works which include track laying & linking, preparation of ballast bed and earthwork information.

Electrification

In Railway Electrification, the Company undertakes overhead electrification, traction substation, general electrical works (building & station yard lighting).

Signaling

In Signaling & Telecommunication projects, the Company undertakes interlocking works, outdoor & indoor supply and installation works.

The company acquired Jay Signaling Private Limited, an Indian railway signaling automation systems and technology company in September 2010. The acquisition strengthened its capability for signaling works and thereby increased its service offering in railway projects across the globe.

In line with the Government’s increased focus on Renewable Energy sector, KEC has made a move to carve out its presence in the sector by providing Solar EPC services for large solar PV projects developed by private players and roof-top PV solutions for Industrial and Commercial consumers. Further, we are empanelled with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) under their Solar On-grid programme contributing to the National roof-top mission. KEC’s Water Business having a significant component of Civil and Structural Engineering, has been merged with the Civil Business with a view to drive further synergies and manage efficiencies.
