Lead wool blankets are available in standard colors of yellow, white, or green. Lead Blanket are very important product of Lead. It is based on the property of Lead which allows shielding from harmful radiations.
All Lead wool blankets are constructed by encapsulating the Lead wool within an inner cover to maintain an even consistency and then a heavier outer cover for added protection and durability. Inner covers of the Lead wool blankets are sewn in a quilted pattern to prevent shifting of the Lead wool when blankets are draped or hung. The materials used for the outer covers are made using heavier weight material (typically 18 oz. sq/yd.), with edge seams heat sealed. Inner covers are 10 oz. sq./yd. weight, also with heat sealed seams. Perimeter grommets are installed on the outer cover border edge to facilitate job site placement or hanging from racks.
Lead is an important material because of its property to radiate the harmful radiation, thus acting as a shield in place of Nuclear works and X-ray regions.
Lead Bricks are basically the rectangular bricks with inter-locking capability. These are mainly used for the purpose of making shielding Walls in case of large area or process, where chances of radiation are very much.
Lead Bricks are a convenient solution to temporary or permanent shielding/storage situations. Easy to stack, un-stack and relocate, Lead Bricks provide maximum protection wherever needed. Produced from the highest quality Lead, each brick is standard hardness with a flat, smooth surface, allowing a perfectly flush fit, even at sharp right angles.
They give protection against radioactive radiation in laboratories and working environment (wall assembling).Interlocking Lead Bricks make it easy to erect, modify and relocate protective walls and caves of any size.
Lead Cames have long been a feature of stained glass windows in churches and cathedrals. They consist of H-shaped sections of Lead which hold together the individual pieces of glass. They are now being used more widely in modern homes both in the traditional way and in the form of self-adhesive strips stuck on to a larger piece of glass to simulate an integral came. The use of Lead in this manner is attractive and lends a traditional air to a home.
A came is a divider bar used between small pieces of glass to make a larger glazing panel, sometimes referred to as Leaded glass. This process is then referred to as “Leading”. Cames are mostly made of soft metals such as Lead, zinc, copper or brass. They generally have an H-shaped cross section, although U-shaped cross sections are used for the borders of panels.
A coolant, or heat transfer fluid, is a fluid which flows through a device in order to prevent its overheating, transferring the heat produced by the device to other devices that utilize or dissipate it.
The use of Lead coolant avoids the potential for fires and for water-coolant reactions associated with sodium. These designs offer temperatures substantially above those available from current water-cooled reactors, increasing thermodynamic efficiency. They take advantage of this feature as well as of passive safety features to reduce capital and operating costs, and they have lower fuel-cycle costs than current water-cooled reactors. They can operate as breeders or near-breeders to increase resource utilization and can easy the management of radioactive waste by consuming plutonium and transmuting minor actinides into stable isotopes.
Lead Coolant are used where high temperature stability is required, eg. some fast breeder nuclear reactors.
A Lead flange is an external or internal rib, or rim, for strength, as the flange of an iron beam or I-beam; or for a guide, as the flange of a train wheel; or for attachment to another object, as the flange on the end of a pipe, steam cylinder, etc. Thus a flanged rail is a rail with a flange on one side to keep wheels, etc., from running off. The term “flange” is also used for a kind of tool used to form flanges.
A flange can also be a plate or ring to form a rim at the end of a pipe when fastened to the pipe (for example, a closet flange). A blind flange is a plate for covering or closing the end of a pipe. A flange joint is a joint, as that of pipes, where the connecting pieces have flanges by which the parts are bolted together.
Lead Foils are produced according to customers’ requirements based on all common alloys and dimensions.
Alloys
Dimensions — Width: 4.0 to 1.000 mm (.16 to 39 inches) depending on thickness and Alloy
Thicknesses — 0.015 to 0.5 mm (.0006 to .02 inches) depending on width and alloy
Coil weights — depending on width and thickness up to 500 kg (1100 lbs)/coil
Lead Glass is potassium silicate glass which has been impregnated with Lead oxide (from 12% to 28% by weight) in its fabrication. It does not block the glass to stop its visibility but provide additional feature to block x-rays, or to increase the refractive index of the glass, and thus its lustre, or sparkle.
Lead glass’s primary contemporary use is in the construction of televisions and monitors. In a standard cathode ray tube, high-energy electrons are fired at phosphors painted on the inside of the tube, it also produces X-rays. The Lead in the glass acts as a barrier to this unwanted radiation. X-Ray shielding Lead glass offers excellent radiation protection and superb visual clarity. The polished surfaces do not scratch easily, it does not discolor due to radiation.
[drum] Lead Silicate, which known as Lead MonoSilicate is an economical compound for introducing Lead Metal into a glaze and as a source of Lead in the glass industry. Lead MonoSilicate is available in either granulated or ground form. In the finely powdered form, it is readily soluble in dilute hydrochloric and acetic acids. This composition is the eutectic mixture of Lead Ortho-silicate and Lead Metasilicate with a chemical composition of 85% Litharge (PbO) and 15% Silica (SiO2).
Lead Pipe (Seamless) is made from Pure Lead Metal (99.97% min.) or Lead Alloys, which is readily fabricated by extrusion. Lead Metal have excellent property of corrosion resistance and flexibility, Lead Pipes finds many uses in the chemical industry. Lead Pipe for these applications is made from either chemical Pure Lead or up to 6% Antimonial Lead Alloy.
We offer Pure Lead (Chemical Grade) Pipes & Antimonial Lead Pipes as per client specification. Our standard sizes are min 10mm ID and max 200mm ID. The main application for such Lead Pipes are for Water, Soil Waste, Ventilating, Gas Purpose, Telephones, Telegraph, Under ground works, Acids & Chemicals.
In present time, Lead Pipes are mainly used for carriage of corrosive chemicals in chemical plants. The appropriate composition of Lead with other alloying Metal is extruded for cutting into short length ‘sleeves’ which is used for jointing of Lead Sheathed Cables.
A Lead Sheath is available on many types of wire and cable insulations. This sheath is completely moisture proof and very durable. Where both mechanical strength and moisture resistance are required, a combination of Lead sheath and armor can be used. Underground ducts and wet locations are typical areas where Lead-sheathed cables are used.
Lead has the major advantage that it can be applied to the cable core in unlimited lengths by extrusion at temperatures which do not damage even the most sensitive conductors (optical fibers) or insulating materials (paper or plastics). Lead is pliable and so can withstand the several coiling, uncoiling, handling and bending operations involved during the later manufacturing stages and installation of the cable. A Lead sheath can be readily soldered (again at low temperatures) when cable lengths need to be jointed or new cables installed. With modern screw-type continuous extruders, un jointed lengths of submarine power cables as long as 100 kilometers have been produced.
Lead has been used for many centuries for weighting purposes. Apart from its high density, which enables smaller volumes to be used to provide desired weights, the main advantage of Lead is its durability. This is particularly relevant in aqueous and marine environments, such as weights for fishing lines and anchors, because iron – itself fairly dense – rapidly corrodes in such environments, unless large additions of alloying materials are used or the weight is covered with a protective coating. Small Lead weights are now banned for hunting and fishing in certain areas because of the risk of birds ingesting them.
Larger weights are still permitted, as are other uses such as in diving belts. Lead weights are also found in many other applications including wheel balances on motor cars, curtain weights and yacht keels.
Lead Wires are manufactured to cover a wide range of dimensions and materials to suit the many applications. We are the producer of Lead Wires that we produce in various forms as per the requirement of customers. The function of Lead wire are multiple naming a few in bullets, electric lamps, in bridge rectifiers and so on…

Lead Wool, a form of caulking Lead, is long, fine strands of chemical grade Lead which is twisted into 5/8”rope for use in various applications and is available in 5 lb. cartons or 50 lb. waterproof bags. It averages about 2-½ ft. to one pound. Lead wool is certified to meet Federal Specification QQ-C-40.
The Lead Wool is used to seal flanged connections, cast iron, cement and earthenware
Lead wool is made by scratching fine strands from the surface of a Lead disc. It is used for the caulking of joints in large pipes e.g. gas mains and in some specialist batteries.e pipes, and apertures of walls and ceilings. Very good ductility of Lead ensures fast and easy filling and sealing of small slots too. It is also convenient for anti-radiation protection. The Lead resistance to aggressive environment is a warranty of long-term durability of seal.
Litharge, which is Lead Mono-Oxide (PbO) is a yellowish or reddish, odorless, heavy, earthy, water-insoluble, solid, PbO, used chiefly in the manufacture of Lead Stabilizers (Lead Steareates), pottery, Lead glass, paints, enamels, and inks.Litharge is also called Lead Monoxide, Lead Oxide, Plumbous Oxide & Yellow oxide.Other uses of Litharge are as an intermediate in a variety of industries like lubricants and greases, insecticides, inorganic pigments, Lead soaps, petroleum refining, rubber and PVC etc.Our manufacturing Plant for Litharge has a Barton plant as the common first step. The required input is refined Lead ingots of minimum 99.98% purity. The Barton plant output is routed to the Litharge furnace with their respective equipment complement, which comprises of the Litharge furnace, grinder, cyclone and bag-house arrangements, ending in a mixer / silo, Pulverizer & packing section.
Red Lead is a bright red to orange, red powder which is used in making Lead glass and red pigments; paint made with Red Lead is commonly used to protect iron and steel from rusting. Chemically, Red Lead is Lead tetra oxide, Pb3O4, a water-insoluble compound that is prepared by the oxidation of metallic Lead or of litharge (Lead monoxide). The commercial product sometimes contains litharge as an impurity.
Red Lead primer is one of the oldest and most commonly used anti-corrosion pigments applied to metal surfaces. Orange-red in color, Red Lead forms the prime coat for most of the largest bridges in the world. Red Lead is also used as primer for most of the intricate steel structures of buildings built in the 20th century. Resistant to even salt water, Red Lead was liberally applied to the hulls and decks of millions of ships. Typically, 85% Red Lead (Lead concentration = 85%) was applied to these steel surfaces. Later, Red Lead primers containing as much as 95% to 98% Lead were used.
Red Lead is virtually insoluble in water and alcohol. However, it is soluble in hydrochloric acid present in stomach, therefore it is toxic when ingested. It dissolves in hydrochloric acid, glacial acetic acid, and diluted mixture of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide.
Red Lead is used to a certain extent in the ceramics and glass, paints and pigments and explosives industries.
