The article are hanged on the Overhead Conveyor which takes vertical up & down bends inside the pretreatment tanks. The tanks are made sloping at entry and exit. Generally the conveyor speed is fixed and tank lengths vary according th chemical specifications (Dipping type).
This system is suitable for small and medium articles having low weights, few chemical requirements.
The dip phosphating plant consists of a number of tanks arranged sequentially. The article to be phosphated are loaded in suitable cages abd are transported by an overhead hoist from tank to tank manually or automatically. In Twin hoist system two hoists lift the cage.
For complete automation of handling of cages in pretreatment system transporters are provided.
Semiautomatic version is also available. It has wide load carrying capacity (200 to 1000 kg.) P.L.C. based control are provided for integrated plant management system.
The Dry Back booth is recommended where the paint overspray volumes are low e.g job coating. Paint testing.
This booth consists of a sheet metal enclosure divided into two sections by a divided wall which houses the paint arrestor filters.
The front section forms the working chamber while the near section houses the exhaust blowers which ensures the proper air velocity in the working chamber as alos the exhaust of the inflammable solvent vapours. The heavier paint particles are deposited on the filter. The deposited paint sludge is to be removed periodically.

Side Draft Paint Booth is recommended where the paint consumption is low but the pollution control requirements call for wet type paint killing system. There is no pump for water circulation. The suction head of exhaust blower is used for lifting the water. During the process vigorous contact between paint and water added with chemicals leads to paint killing.
The killed paint drops back into the tank and the clean air is exhausted to the atmosphere.

The booth is recommended for large production volumes. A pump draws water from the base tank and carries it to the overhead, overflow tank from where the water flows along the rear wall / guide plate thus keeping rear wall clean, reducing bounce back, improving spray booth atmosphere, enhancing the paint killing efficiency and reducing maintenance. A whirl plate provided at the base of this water wall throughly mix the paint particles with the booth water ensuring excellent paint killing.

The Down Draft liquid paint booth is recommended for painting of large articles which are to be painted from all sides but can not be rotated easily, e.g. tractors, bus bodies etc. The air is sucked from the top of the spray chamber. The fllor of the working area is made is made of a grill below which the ater tank with whirl plate is placed.
The arrester plates and the blower are housed on the suitable side of the spray chamber.
Suction air filters can be mounted on the top of the spray chamber.

Electric ovens occupy least volume, are low cost and require least maintainance but have high running cost.
These ovens have 150 mm resin bonded insulation and give minimum heat loss. Generally two doors are provided on two sides. Suitable blowers circulate the hot air inside the oven giving uniform temperature distribution throughout the oven cross section. Blowers are indirectly driven. The control panel has a digital temperature indicator - controller, hooter (0 to 30 minutes) with timer for indication of cycle completion.
The heaters used are G.E. Elpro make Encoloy heaters.
Oven has inbuilt tracks for provision of ground trolley.

Heater box is generally top mounted to save floor space. However it can be mounted on any side of the oven. Initial cost of these ovens is higher but running cost is less than 50 % as compared to elec. ovens.
These ovens are recommended where the article are plain, shallow with very small depth and thickness. The heating is achived by radiation energy. The areas to be coated should be equallly exposed to the infrared emmiters.
These ovens are very compact and occupy least space. The curing is achived within 3 minuits approx.
Thses ovens give 30 percent saving over electricla convection ovens

Online spray pretreatment is designed best on conveyor speeds article geometry. It is generally used in conveyorised plants where article types are few, geometry is similar and quantities are large.
Articles move over the conveyor through modular spray tunnel where the chemicals are sprayed. The chemical tanks with pumps are placed below or on the side of the tunnel. Due to continuous spray the interaction between article surface and chemical is very fast.

The article is inserted inside the spray chamber then article remains stationary. One or two operators coat the article from all sides by opening the hinged doors one by one. This reduces the blower capacity requirement.

Automatic Booths have reciprocator station with two cutouts on opposite sides for reciprocators and recoveries.
Two reciprocators carring Auto Guns operate from Two sides of the articals passing over the Conveyor.
Reciprocators are pneumatic or electromechanical type. Stroke height and spped i.e. number of strokes per minute are adjustable. Multiple guns can be mounted on reciprocators for higher conveyor speeds or larger artical heights.
Manual back to back touchup stations are provided with auto booths.
For Most of the batch plants free track trolley system is preferred over a ground trolley. The overhead track runs through booth and oven. The articles are hanged on the load bars from free moving trolleys. The trolleys are to be pushed manually.
Branching of tracks is possible and the articles can be moved on the tracks selectively. Various load carring capacities are possible.
The overhead conveyor manufactured by us is a Bi-Planer conveyor, has a chain pitch of 250 mm. Point load capacity of 60 Kg./point. Minimum vertical and hirizontal bend redius is 500 mm. Two types of drives are available - Sprocket type and Caterpiller type. Take up unit is provided for tensioning the chain after installation. Expansion joints are provided inside the Oven.
Though multicylone recovery is highly efficient & recovers powder upto 98 %, balance 2 % powder escapes the recovery. This 2 % powder has particle size below 5 micrones. For strict pollution control Post Filters are used. These are bag filter units with mechnical shaking or pneumatic pulse jet cleaning for continuous bag cleaning.
