RoHS, also known as Lead-Free, stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts the use of six hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products.

2. Mercury (Hg)
3. Cadmium (Cd)
4. Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+)
5. Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
6. Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE)

PBB and PBDE are flame retardants used in several plastics.
The maximum permitted concentrations in non-exempt products are 0.1% or 1000 ppm (except for cadmium, 
which is limited to 0.01% or 100 ppm by weight.
Halogen free or Zero Halogen  Low smoke – Salzer Halogen Free ducts confirm to IEC 60754-2 an, has higher continuous use temperature (90Deg C).

plastic compounds do not contain any Halogen i.e. Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine etc and hence whenever they burn they do not emit any toxic acidic gases. (Typically under 0.5% HCl emission).These compounds are modified PPO based compounds. 

Application :

Typically used in poorly ventilated areas such as aircraft, rail cars or ships. It is also used extensively in the railroad industry, wherever high voltage or track signal wires must be run into and through underground tunnel systems. This reduces the chance of toxic gasses accumulating in these areas should the ducts be damaged by fire or a short circuit fault.
