Our founder Late Sri. K. I. Jacob started his career as a machinist in the state owned Engineering Department. There he enhanced his skills and expertise. With the enthusiasm he had for this field, combined with an undying entrepreneurial drive, provoked him to venture into new pastures. He started M/s Jacobs Engineering Works in the year 1948 and chose the location at a prominent place on the National Highway at Sreekariyam, Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, with a small capital investment at his disposal. He received total encouragement and support from his family members. His wife, Smt. Marykutty Jacob was the main pillar, who assisted him in business and supported him in taking up the challenges he had before him, to become a successful entrepreneur.
