Partially Oriented Yarn

Partially Oriented Yarn (POY ) is a type of polyester filament yarn yet to be processed through the drawing process, which is the primary form of polyester filament yarn made through the polymerizing and spinning processes. It is primarily used as a main raw material for DTY.  POY is primarily used by us as a raw material for our production of DTY. Any POY not consumed by our DTY production capacity is sold separately as end products.

FIL offers a comprehensive range of POY. Its latest plant also gives it the flexibility to manufacture POY exactly to the client`s specifications. The product range of POY is as under :

FIL has the capability to manufacture POY in Deniers: 115-470, having filaments: 36/72/100/144/200/288 with Denier per filament (dpf) not less than 0.8.

USAGE AND APPLICATION OF POY/ PFY
POY / PFY is largely used in shirtings and suitings, sarees, ladies’ dress material, and knitwear. POY/ PFY is preferred in men’s wear due to its higher crease recovery, wrinkle resistance, better drape, longer retention of prints and colours, and better abrasion as compared with competing fibres, such as PSF, VSF and NFY. The use of POY / PFY in sarees has increased due to the development of crimping, twisting, texturising and wet processing technologies. These technologies offer more flexibility in designs and patterns. Moreover, these technologies help increase the air permeability of POY / PFY. As a result, the fabric would be able to absorb more moisture. POY / PFY is also used in applications, such as soft luggage and specialty fabrics. POY is sold by producers to the texturising units. The texturising units process POY and sell it to weavers (largely in the power loom sector). Unlike PSF, PFY is not blended with cotton by blended yarn producers, since it is in the filament form and not in the fiber form. However, in the power loom stage, PFY can be woven with other yarns.

POY / PFY is a substitute for cotton and other synthetic yarns. POY / PFY has a number of advantages over its substitutes, as a result of which, POY / PFY demand increased at a CAGR of around 16% during the period 1991-92 to 2000-01. The advantages include:

  • Better Properties: POY / PFY is more durable, does not fade on exposure to sunlight or soap, has better abrasion resistance, drape and crease recovery properties, and is wrinkle resistant
  • Price Competitiveness: Since the 1990s, POY prices have declined significantly, largely due to the decline in the landed costs, on account of decline in the import duty

Fully Drawn Yarn

Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY ) is a type of highly drawn polyester filament yarn which can be used to produce high strength fabrics and textiles. We produce both semi-dull FDY . FDY is typically used to produce fabrics and textiles for high-end undergarments, high-end sportswear and home furnishings.

Normal Partially Oriented Yarn (POY) needs to be necessarily texturised before being used for making fabric whereas FDY, as the name of the yarn itself indicates, is drawn fully during the process of spinning itself and therefore does away with the requirement of texturising and can use directly for making fabric.

FDY is generally used for better quality fabric. As the process of texturising is avoided, FDY yields higher contribution as compared to the normal POY.

Drawn Textured Yarn

Description

Polyester Drawn Textured Yarn commonly known as Polyester DTY is a manufactured by processing Polyester POY. The yarn develops a texture by twisting and drawing it at the same time using heat. The yarn develops texture by a process involving hot drawing, twisting, thermosetting and de-twisting.  The texturizing process imparts bulk and stretch properties. Different heating techniques can be used to make the yarn set for specific use. DTY can be provided with different levels of intermingling depending upon the requirements of downstream machines and applications. It can be Non-Intermingle (NIM), having 0 -10 knots/meter or Semi-Intermingle (SIM) having 40 - 50 knots/meter or High-Intermingle (HIM) having 100 - 120 knots/meter. These knots are created by usage of specific intermingling nozzle and subjecting yarnto desire intermingling pressure. DTY can be used in various applications, as a placement of natural yarns, or in specified technical applications. DTY is available in three lusters - Semi-Dull, Full-Dull and Bright.

Properties

  • Can be made in different colours using doped dyed technology or traditional dyeing
  • Good insulation properties
  • Light weight with good covering properties
  • Can give a woolly and mat appearance
  • High wear and tear resistance
  • Very low moisture content

End Uses

  • Outer/Inner Garments
  • Woven and knitted fabrics
  • Skin-clinging garments
  • Home Furnishings
  • Upholstery
  • Seat Covers
  • Bags

Pet Chips Textile Grade

Description

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) chips are produced by granulating polyester formed in a polycondensation reaction of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and mono-ethylene glycol (MEG). They are manufactured for textile applications and are supplied to the yarn- producing industry in semi-dull and bright luster.

Properties

  • High Reaction Speed – low thermal degradation, bright whiteness, resistant to yellowing and thermo-oxidative degradation
  • High Degree of Polymerization – high crystalline regions, narrow molecular weight distribution
  • Diversified Packaging – Can be packaged and shipped according to customers’ specific requirements

End Uses

  • Manufacturing Polyester Yarn such as Partially Oriented Yarn (POY) and Full Drawn Yarn (FDY)
